Well, imagine living in Wassenaar (the Netherlands Well, imagine living in Wassenaar (the Netherlands) and having this view… just to be clear, I don’t live there myself. I live in the “picturesque” city of Hoogvliet. I really don’t need such a huge house, but the view… yes, I’d definitely sign up for that. How wonderful it must be to see roe deer walking in front of your house every day. In these fields, you can almost always spot them early in the morning, and this beautiful morning was no exception. The sky turned into stunning colors and I was amazed by the variety of hues in the dry tall grass. I was on my way to Meijendel for the workshop I was giving there, which would start at six o’clock, so I had left nice and early. That gave me time to take a look at this little field first, and it was so worth it. It was pure enjoyment. Tja, je zult maar in Wassenaar wonen en dit uitzicht hebben... even voor de duidelijkheid, daar woon ik dus niet he. Ik woon in het “pitoreske” Hoogvliet. En zo’n enorm huis hoef ik echt niet te hebben, maar het uitzicht... ja daar zou ik wel voor tekenen ja. Zo heerlijk om iedere dag de reeën voor je huis te zien wandelen. In deze veldjes is het vroeg in de ochtend bijna altijd raak, zo ook op deze prachtige ochtend. De lucht kleurde prachtig en ik was enorm verrast door de vele kleuren in het droge hoge gras. Ik was op weg naar Meijendel voor de workshop die ik daar ging geven, die zou om 6 uur starten, dus ik was lekker op tijd vertrokken. Zodat ik nog even dit veldje kon bekijken en dat was niet voor niets. Recently we bought a rooftent for on our car. Last Recently we bought a rooftent for on our car. Last weekend we tried it for the first time and now we are enjoying yet another night in our little private place. We can now sleep where ever we want. This time we are staying in someones garden… 🤣. In the Netherlands you are now alowed to camp just somewhere in nature unfortunately. But this is a really beautiful hidden gem. #rooftent #thule #thuleadventures @thuleadventures #camping
Okay and then last but not least a poppy shot whic Okay and then last but not least a poppy shot which is 100% unsharp. This is much more in my comfort zone. I just like to play with shapes and colours. This picture was shot during the last photography workshop. We did not have great light, but at the last moment the set in an incredible way but behind the trees and the farmhouse. Too bad... but then I saw the sun reflecting in the windows of a house on the other side of the field. I used that reflection as a sunset... and yeahhh. I like it. This was the last poppy photo of the year. We’ll see what challenges next year will bring. Oke, en dan last but not least: een klaprozenfoto die 100% onscherp is. Dit ligt veel meer binnen mijn comfortzone. Ik speel gewoon graag met vormen en kleuren. Deze foto maakte ik tijdens de laatste fotografieworkshop. We hadden geen geweldig licht, maar op het laatste moment ging de zon op een prachtige manier onder — helaas precies achter de bomen en de boerderij. Jammer... Maar toen zag ik de zon weerkaatsen in de ramen van een huis aan de andere kant van het veld. Die reflectie heb ik gebruikt als een soort zonsondergang… en jaaaa. Ik vind het mooi. Dit was voor dit jaar de laatste klaproosfoto. Well… something completely different this time. Well… something completely different this time. I was kind of done with photographing for the day, but suddenly I remembered an Instagram post I’d seen — someone testing a new phone camera by placing the phone on the ground. So I thought: I can do that too — but I used my camera with flash and a wide-angle lens instead. I find the result very busy and honestly a bit too much. But I wanted to share the photo anyway, just to show the possibilities the field offers. Soooo… is it a great photo? Definitely not — it could be much better. But maybe it inspires someone else to take the idea and make it perfect… you never know! Tja.... even iets heeeeeeel anders. Ik was wel een beetje klaar met fotograferen, maar moest ineens denken aan een instagram post die ik had gezien van iemand die een nieuwe telefooncamera aan het testen was en de telefoon op de grond legde. Dus ik dacht dat kan ik ook, alleen pakte ik mijn camera met flits en de groothoeklens. Ik vind het allemaal erg druk en eigenlijk allemaal veel te veel. Maar ik wilde de foto toch posten om de mogelijkheden in het veld te laten zien. Dusssss.... is het een topfoto? Zeker niet en het kan allemaal veel beter. No beautiful light, strong wind, and rain… well, No beautiful light, strong wind, and rain… well, nothing you can do about it. Towards the end of the evening, a very narrow strip of light appeared on the horizon, so I grabbed my flash to preserve that light in the background without turning the flower into a silhouette. I also switched to my wide-angle lens — two things I wouldn’t normally go for. But in this case, I had to get creative. Even though this isn’t my usual approach, I was actually surprised by the result. Maybe I should try it more often. Geen mooi licht, harde wind en regen... tja, niks aan te doen. Tegen het einde van de avond ontstond er een heeeeel klein strookje licht aan de horizon en dus pakte ik de flitser zodat ik het licht in de achtergrond kon behouden zonder dat de bloem als silhouet weergegeven zou worden. Tevens pakte ik mijn groothoeklens erbij. Dit zijn twee dingen die ik normaal gesproken niet snel zal kiezen. Maar ik moest wel creatief zijn in dit geval. Ondanks dat ik dit normaal niet zou kiezen was ik toch verrast door het resultaat. The poppy field lies next to a grain field, and si The poppy field lies next to a grain field, and since @cynthiavanzwieten inspired me to do something with the grain field, I thought… okaaaay. But I had actually come for the poppies, so I decided to use the grain field as a background instead. I ended up really liking the subtle vertical textures — it created a nice and tranquil background in the crowded field. By the way, this is a single shot, not a double exposure. Het klaprozenveld ligt naast een graanveld en aangezien @cynthiavanzwieten mij inspireerde om iets met het graanveld te doen, dacht ik okeeee.... maar ik kwam voor de klaprozen en dus besloot ik het graanveld als achtergrond te gebruiken. De subtiele verticale structuren vond ik dan toch wel weer erg leuk als afwisseling.
