Fifty shades of blue III Yet another stunning rive Fifty shades of blue III Yet another stunning river in Iceland. We were driving past this river and immediately saw the milky blue water. Luckily, there was a parking spot, so I could send the drone up for a few minutes. And then you can really see how beautifully the river winds its way through the landscape, making its way toward the sea. The blue contrasts so beautifully with the dry grass and the lava fields beside it. It's just amazing to be able to see this from above. Vijftig tingen blauw III Alweer zo'n prachtige rivier in IJsland. We reden hierlangs en zagen al het melkachtige blauwe water. Gelukkig was er een parkeerplaats en kon ik de drone even omhoog sturen. En dan zie je hoe mooi het riviertje kronkelt door het landschap en zijn weg zoekt naar zee. Het blauw steekt prachtig mooi af tegen de droge gras en de lavavelden ernaast. Fifty shades of blue II This waterfall was high on Fifty shades of blue II This waterfall was high on our list — Brúarfoss. We spent the first two days walking in the sun, even without jackets. But this day we woke up to snow — and not just a little! As we were driving toward the waterfall, the road was suddenly marked as “dangerous.” But we were already on it, and turning back wasn’t really an option. So, so happy we made it here — and once again, we had the place entirely to ourselves. It’s unbelievable how lucky we’ve been again and again. The blue color of this water is incredible... I’d seen it in photos before, but seeing it with your own eyes is truly overwhelming. On top of that, the power of the water here is just as intense as its color. Deze waterval stond hoog op ons lijstje, Brúarfoss. We hebben de eerste twee dagen in de zon gelopen en zelfs zonder jas gelopen. Maar deze dag worden we wakker met sneeuw en niet zo'n beetje ook. De weg naar de waterval werd toen we er net op reden aangemerkt als "gevaarlijk". Maar goed we reden er al en keren was geen optie. Zooooo blij dat we hier waren en wederom stonden we er alleen, het is ongelofelijk hoeveel geluk we steeds gehad hebben. De kleur van de blauw van dit water is echt.... ik zag het op foto's van anderen, maar als je het met eigen ziet dan ben je echt overdonderd. Fifty shades of blue... I will be posting a couple Fifty shades of blue... I will be posting a couple of Iceland shots the following days to show the incredible colours of Iceland. The landscapes are truly one of a kind. The grass was yellow or brown, there was still some snow here and there and then there are the thousands of streams meandering through the landscape. I send the drone up to get that lovely Birds Eye point of view. The blue shades were even more beautiful from above. The structures in this stream were so amazing, I just love the graphics. Vijftig tinten blauw... De komende dagen zal ik een paar foto's uit IJsland posten om de ongelooflijke kleuren van het land te laten zien. De landschappen zijn echt uniek. Het gras was geel of bruin, hier en daar lag nog wat sneeuw, en overal meanderen duizenden stroompjes door het landschap. Ik heb de drone omhoog gestuurd om dat prachtige vogelperspectief vast te leggen. De blauwe tinten waren van bovenaf nog mooier. There's a Dutch song about two hares in the field. There's a Dutch song about two hares in the field... one played the flute and the other one played the drums.. “Well, I didn’t see a single flute or drum, I’ll tell you that!” But I did enjoy every single hare I saw running or grooming in the field. In een groen groen groen knollen knollen land daar zaten twee haasjes heeeeel parmant.... Nou ik heb geen fluit of trommel gezien hoor, en het waren soms 1, soms 2, soms 3, soms 15 hazen... maar het liedje zat wel in mijn hoofd. Boxing hares — so much fun to watch!! So skittis Boxing hares — so much fun to watch!! So skittish, so joyful, so funny, so energetic — and then suddenly very calm again. It's such a treat to be able to observe and photograph them like this. And I photographed all of this less than a 5-minute bike ride from my home — right on the outskirts of Rotterdam... Rammelende hazen, zo leuk om te zien!! Zo schichtig, zo blij, zo grappig, zo druk en dan weer heeeeeel erg kalm. Te leuk om ze zo te kunnen observeren en fotograferen. Last week, I went out early in the morning hoping Last week, I went out early in the morning hoping to find some butterflies. But as I cycled past the field, I spotted a whole group of hares. They've been on my wishlist for quite some time! I already knew they often hang around this spot, but I had never taken the time to actually do something with it. Spring is the mating season for hares. Normally they are solitary animals, but they come together for the rut. That’s when the show begins: chasing, boxing, and running wild. I was already enjoying the peaceful sight when suddenly, things got lively — the party had started! They stand on their hind legs, boxing each other with their front paws, then dash off in wild pursuit. It’s a funny sight to see. And I’m so happy I was able to capture it! I used my Canon 100-500mm lens with a 1.4x extender, giving me a reach of 700mm. Ik ging van de week vroeg in de ochtend op pad in de hoop vlindertjes te vinden in de voorjaarsbloeiers. Maar toen ik langs het veld fietste zag ik een hele groep hazen zitten. En ook die stonden al een poosje op mijn verlanglijstje. Ik wist al dat ze op deze plek vaak liepen, maar ik had nooit eerder te tijd genomen om er iets mee te doen. Het voorjaar is "rammeltijd". De haas is een einzelgänger, behalve in de paartijd. Dan is het tijd om te 'rammelen', ofwel: rennen en knokken met je buren. Ik zat al een tijdje te genieten van de hazen toen er ineens actie in de tent kwam. Het rammelen ging van start. Op de achterpoten staan ze, terwijl ze met hun voorpoten een soort van boksen. Daarna rennen ze hard achter elkaar aan. Het is een komisch gezicht. En ik vind het zo tof dat ik het kon vastleggen. Ik gebruikte hier voor mijn canon 100-500 met 1.4x extender, waardoor ik op 700 mm kon fotograferen.
